JIM WRAYGE ARTIST STATEMENT
“My paintings present imagery contained in the world of wilderness and in the worldvof the city; illuminating the parallels of nature and the man made world. My compositions are influenced by the erosion, aging, weather, and light that occurs in both settings. I explore the contrasts between both worlds visually and emotionally. I use layers of textures; the opaque and the transparent intertwine with monochromatic hues and vivid color. Painting is my adventure in which the journey is a manifestation of my values. I paint what I paint because I absolutely love it. I am not interested in narration orvnostalgia. I am not an object painter.”
