About the Artist

Hi, This is Jane Kietzer, the artist behind Mickey & Me Stained Glass. I live in a small town in southern Minnesota. My business namesake is from a former pet, a dear cat named Mickey, who loved to "help" me create my stained glass pieces. I first started doing stained glass in 2004 after taking a class with my best friend. At first, I created stained glass pieces to give as gifts for holidays, birthdays, and weddings, etc... It soon became apparent that my pieces could be more than just a hobby. Each piece is unique, just as no two snowflakes are alike. I select a pattern and then carefully choose the right glass for the look I am going for. I do my own embellishing with the beads, bent iron, and wire-work. There is considerable time given to each piece...medium snowflakes take about 4-5 hours and a large snowflake can easily take 8-10 hours. I drive anywhere from 1-2 hours to hand-select my glass and many styles of glass are becoming harder and harder to find. Creating unique and beautiful stained glass began as an interesting hobby but has become a way for me to create beautiful and one-of-a-kind art for others to enjoy as well! It is a way to keep a dying art alive and fresh! I first started doing stained glass in 2004 after taking a class with my best friend.
