Taryn Sakry is a printmaker currently working in Minnesota and pursuing a Master of Arts in printmaking at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Using a variety of print mediums, she explores ideas of self-interpretation and translating the intangible. Taryn illustrates these ideas through the depiction of mindscapes and memories that are further altered through the application of color and addition of the
unordinary.
“Seeking Translation includes woodcut, intaglio, silkscreen, and stone lithography prints. The multiplicity of printmaking allows me to experiment with the effects of different colors and juxtaposition of different materials and mediums. And while the methods are diverse, I find consistency within the reworking and layering of imagery. This compounding of elements and slow evolution parallels the
depth and complexity of the individual. Like life, these prints serve as journey through which new ideas are realized and deeper understanding is achieved.”
The Exhibition runs from October 2nd-13th, 2023.
